Well, everything is about something else and without any artificial interventions such as medication, together, we help your subconscious and conscious minds to communicate freely and sort things out
for your greatest benefit.
There really is no need to be held back by your past, let it gently go and develop your own bright future.
My expertise
+ your willingness = success.
You simply
lie back with your eyes closed and simply let it flow, with no need to look at
the issue,
as I talk to
you weaving suggestion, metaphor and energy therapy.
Suggestion
therapy: you accept
yourself as … Great for habits, public speaking and much more.
Metaphor:
brilliant as you take what you need to resolve wide-ranging concerns in your
life.
Energy: fantastic as your mind works
like biological washing powder reaching
the
entrenched grime and allowing it to be washed away.
Analytical
therapy: successful
as we go to the source of the problem and gently heal.
Your solutions lie within you.
I help you
find the bridge between your conscious and subconscious minds.
Your
problems and solutions are unique to you.
I facilitate
only as your mind will not allow me to direct it.
The connection
is missing between the logic of ‘I know this is stupid’ and the feeling of ‘I’m
terrified’
and it’s my
job to help you make this link as you are not aware of its existence, nor can
the most sophisticated microscope find
it as it is pure energy, it found a way in so there is an easy way out.
We all experience varying
levels and lengths of stress, triggered by an array of scenarios –
some logical, others not.
Managing this powerful emotional and physiological response to adverse
or demanding circumstances
comes more naturally to some, but can certainly be taught
to even the most nervous of
them all.
The first step to controlling
stress is to know your own personal anxiety, down to its deepest core. What
causes your stress? What alleviates it? What affect is it having on your mind
and body
and what can you do to stop it?
To assist you on your journey
of stress-discovery, here are five truths about stress
that you may not know – but
definitely need to be made aware of.
1. Stress is
contagious.
Anyone interacting with someone
who’s stressed, especially for prolonged periods of time,
has an increased risk of being
affected byempathetic stress.
Caregivers and family members
of chronically stressed individuals are most at risk here,
but even watching TV shows
involving confrontations of stress can transmit the tension.
This empathetic stress
negatively impacts the immune system and is toxic to the mind and body
in the long term.
Know your
limits when it comes to how much stress you can healthily expose yourself to.
Also, be cognizant of how your worry may be negatively impacting those around
you.
If you reach out to a sorrowful
friend, a mourning parent, or a downhearted colleague
who has suffered a sudden
reversal of fortune or fate, be careful not to be
overcome yourself by the
apparent hardship.
Remember to discriminate events
themselves and your interpretations of them.
It is not a demonstration of
kindness or friendship to the people we care about to join them
in surrendering to negative
feelings. We do a better service to ourselves and others
by remaining detached and avoiding
unnecessary emotional reactions.
Still, if you are associated
with someone who is depressed, stressed or hurt, show them kindness
and give them a sympathetic
ear; just don’t allow yourself to be pulled down.
2. Stress is
detrimental to Sperm.
Stress can and will seep into
every facet of your life if you let it, including the bedroom.
Stressed men are found to have
fewer, slower sperm, which can diminish fertility.
While not conclusive yet as to
howstressaffects the quality of semen,
it is possible that stress
may trigger steroid hormones
known to blunt levels of testosterone and sperm production.
3. Two stressed
people equals less stress.
Seems counterintuitive, yes.
But, when especially stressed, it is extremely helpful to
share your feelings
with someone who is having a similar anxious reaction to the same situation.
Consider giving a presentation
at work – perhaps nothing will ease your stress more than talking it out with a
colleague who is undergoing the same scenario.Studiesshow that there is tremendous
benefit gained by conversing with others whose emotional response is in line
with your own.
4. Optimists are
better at regulating stress.
A glass-half-full mentality may
be the ticket to a more stress-free life.
The “stress hormone” cortisol
tends to be more stable for those with positive personalities.
Pessimists have
difficulty regulating their emotional and physical responses to particularly
stressful situations. Optimiststend to be more
solution-oriented and thus better react to the stress hormone – allowing it to
amplify their get-up-and-go attitudes.
5. Not all stress
is bad.
While stress is oftentimes the
enemy, we can’t ignore its ability to push us to optimal alertness
and performance. Short, but
significant bouts of stress cause our brains to proliferate new nerve cells
that improve mental performance. Stress hormones are an incredible adaptation
that provide us with the ability to remember not only anxiety-ridden situations
themselves, but more importantly, how will dealt with them – ingraining us with
the power of resiliency, allowing us to be ready for whatever life may throw
our way. Like most things in life, stress is onlybeneficialin small doses. Chronic stress
leads to increased risk of
chronic obesity, heart disease and depression.
Stress is like spice - in the right
proportion it enhances the flavor of a dish.
Too little produces a bland, dull
meal; too much may choke you." –Donald Tubesing
The Magnesium and Arthritis Connection
The most interesting fact about magnesium is that when there is a deficiency,
the white blood cells in the body markedly increase the cytokines responsible
for inflammation. They also increase histamine levels.
What this means to your joints is there’s trouble ahead. Magnesium deficiency
causes inflamed joints, which lead to pain in your joints. Chronic inflammation
will eventually break down any healthy tissue in your joints.
Tissues that are inflamed send out distress signals to white blood cells to
come in to the area to help repair them. However, once these white blood cells
get to the tissue in distress, they create even more cytokines that cause
greater levels of inflammation.
Magnesium stops this process.
The Magnesium/Inflammation Connection Established in Research Studies
Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina discovered that
C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were much higher in those who had a magnesium
deficiency and only consumed about 310-420 mg magnesium daily. This is about
50% of the estimated daily value needed to maintain good health.
C-Reactive Protein is considered a strong predictor of heart attacks, stroke
and inflammation in the body.
The bad news is that a magnesium deficiency also damaged blood vessels as well,
due to the inflammation. Researchers believe that a deficiency of this
important element induces stress in the whole body, which exaggerates aging
processes through oxidation and immune system stress.
And it doesn’t take months for these negative results to occur. In studies,
only a few days of low levels of magnesium was enough to cause marked
inflammation. Magnesium replacement reversed the inflammation.
Could it be that many of us are deficient in magnesium? Absolutely. Foods in
the diet only provide little bits of magnesium here and there. No one food is
especially high in the mineral. Green leafy vegetables and nuts contain higher
amounts than other foods, but still are not high enough if your body is showing
a deficiency.
What are the Deficiency Symptoms? Here are the magnesium deficiency signs and
symptoms:
• Muscle twitching
• Tremors in the body
• Confusion and being overly cautious
• Depression
• Irritability
• Disorientation
Many health issues such as heart disease, arthritis, attention deficit
syndrome, deafness, constipation, and kidney stones are related to low levels
of magnesium in the body.
Perhaps the easiest way to see if you are deficient in magnesium is to rub
magnesium oil on your joints and see what happens. In those who are deficient,
the muscles relax instantly and the arthritis nodules and joints are not tender
to the touch. This isn’t an official “medical” test for a magnesium deficiency
but it can give you and your doctor a clue as to what to do next.
Correcting a magnesium deficiency can make a remarkable difference in your
arthritis. Discuss the topic with your doctor and nutritionist today.
Below Tony Robins describes how he used his body to
affect his mind.
I don’t imagine that for one second he uses those methods
now
but they make a good and exciting demonstrative story.
When describing the trance state to clients or the
learning state to Inner Mind Reading students
I often use the following examples as these identical states
mean moving from the chatty active state of beta brain wave to the slower
meditative state of alpha brain waves.
This is a process you cycle through many times a day and
is most easily recognised when you drift into sleep and drift into wakefulness.
Or when you are ‘miles away’; totally absorbed in a book, film
or conversation
so that the rest of the world melts away and when you find that you have driven
for miles and cannot remember the last roundabout or
intersection.
In all these states and stages of alpha you have behaved
perfectly safely and in control
because alpha is a perfectly normal brain wave sate for
you to experience.
It is not an on/off switch but more of a balance of degree,
the flow of water through a tap.
The chemicals of your body can be altered in nano seconds
and they obviously affect your emotional ability to the degree of their
alteration.
If you are sitting, look down, put your elbows on your knees and your head in your
hands and let your shoulders slump and in this recognised depressed body posture
science records that your depressed
chemicals flood though your body – fast!
This is an example of the body leading the mind.
Now think of something wonderful, for me it is the
vibrant laughter in my grandchildren’s eyes,
think of something exciting, laughter inducing or whatever
brings joy to your mind.
Your body will raise; your body chemicals will alter in a
split second, your muscle tone
and everything physical and therefore emotional will
change.
HOW TO GET FROM
DOWN TO UP.
A friend hypnotherapist used to complain of a bad back
and stand when speaking with a depressed client as it caused them to look up. Depressed
people look down! So when you find yourself walking along looking at the
pavement absorbed in your unpleasant thoughts simply look up. Observe the
skyline, the tree tops the roof lines; I bet you didn’t realise just how interesting
roof lines can be!
Your mind is now otherwise engaged; your eyes are no
longer downcast but are the opposite
to depressed and over concerned; they are open to more
light – an important consideration.
Whistle. It is physically impossible to be depressed or
unhappy when you whistle. Now you may not be the world’s greatest warbler but
you can whistle inside you mind and if you are like me
it takes quite a bit of concentration and you will end up
laughing inside.
Another body leading the mind strategy is to pretend to
physically belly laugh; that is to exaggerate the movements of laughing like a
clown. Put your fist on your tummy and breathe out loudly ha, ha, while simultaneously
jogging your head and shoulders forward. I clearly remember the first time
I tried this, exactly where I was standing and the thought
of, ‘what if someone was to see me
do such a silly movement’ this caused me to laugh out loud
genuinely. And that simple memory always caused the rush of laughter within my body
– in NLP terms this is known as an anchor
or in hypnotherapy as a trigger – a traffic light is a
trigger as when it flashed red you stop
you don’t think - you simply stop.
Tony Robins describes how he used his body to engage his
mind in a positive, can-do, invincible attitude that was actualised in his
voice, words, posture, demeanour and ultimate success.
Bruce Springsteendescribes
a mind trigger when hesaidthat if he didn’t feel nervous before
a performance he wasn’t ‘pumped’ and he needed that excitement
to perform and to engage
with the excitement from the crowd.
Look at a little child, their bodies brim and bristle
with emotion particularly around the age of 18 months to two when often such
exuberance is socialised out of them.
Think of exercise, dancing, smiling, listening to exciting
music and any other physical activity that lifts your mood and just play it
through in your mind maybe with a JohnCleese Ministry
of Silly Walks background.
Remaining with body triggers (think of a light switch) I always
end a trance session in the same way as this serves two principal purposes.
Firstly the person knows that their body and mind is to return up to the active
waking state and secondly, should they have been consciously or subconsciously
resisting the therapeutic values they have paid for, their mind thinks, ‘OK
that‘s it, time to go home now,’ and they drop their defences and the therapy
work slips in. Magic! During this time I also add some other features
including: “whenever you stop at a traffic light, your shoulders drop a little
and any stresses of the day simply fall away like water off a duck back.” I think
I describe the benefits of this elsewhere. So you can consciously employ these
physical techniques to everyday stressful situations of your own. From DOWN to
UP or UP to DOWN.
HOW TO GET FROM UP
TO DOWN.
Sometimes this is as simple as relaxing your body even if
you have to force your body to relax.
When I start a relaxation process I am often surprised to
find that I am, in fact, holding tension in my muscles.
Hypnotherapists often use body relaxation to help people
enter the trance state of alpha.
The therapist simply starts at the top of the head and
works down the body or starts from the toes and works up describing the state
of relaxation in detail. I don’t generally do this as I find it to be
a waste of time and not particularly interesting. But
when I‘ve experienced this myself
I will be consciously thinking, ‘just a minute my shoulders
have not relaxed and you’re talking about my tummy!’ While I’m busy concentrating
about my shoulders and arguing inside I’m not paying any attention to the rest
of my body which is happily relaxing into trance and eventually there is more
of me relaxed than not and my shoulders eventually give up
and go with the consensus.
However, one girl dramatically jerked back into full alertness
when I reached her tummy
so after discussion I asked her and when we reached her
tummy I asked her tummy if it was OK
for it to stay alert while the rest of her body relaxed and
this worked well.
In everyday situations some people advise you to clench a
muscle and then let it relax however
this can raise your blood pressure while the relaxation above
actually reduces your blood pressure, body temperature and chemical activity.
Employ the opposite of The Ministry of Silly Walks and
behave as if or imagine yourself as if you are the calmest person or animal or
feeling that is possible for you and score yourself and then see if you can become
even calmer.
You may find these to be helpful.
