How to Be More Confident (Use this technique)

An excellent video.

Struggling with confidence? Use this word-for-word script that I share in this video,
and you'll be one step closer to developing more confidence in social situations.

In addition to sharing the script, I also share some interesting psychological research
about confidence.

(I share some big takeaways from Amy Cuddy's famous TED talk).

Why You Matter Even If You Think You Don’t

Each little part of a flower is essential.

Why You Matter Even If You Think You Don’t
How to know you matter and make a difference in the world
By Ikechi Awazie

NOW.
He wants to tell you why you matter to yourself, somebody else, to us, and to the world.
Have you ever thought about the reason why you matter?
It seems the world is so big. There are more than 7 billion people on earth.
So how can you stand out? What do you have to offer?
What do you have to contribute that matters?
You are properly struggling with this emotional pain; self-doubt, insecurity,
fear of not belonging, feeling puny and being insignificant.
It is not your fault, and you most certainly are not alone.
We live in a society that enjoys picking on the minority or less worthy.
Sadly, many of us are living among these minority groups where the color of one’s skin,
gender inequality, religious background and other norms, seems to be the measure
in which some groups are marginalized by a society that values one idea over the other.
Now the world might not acknowledge your worthiness;
your family and friends may not adequately communicate
the importance of your existence in their lives,
and you might feel you have nothing that matters.
However, the truth is that YOU MATTER and from the bottom of my heart,
here are the reasons why.
Being YOU is What Makes The Difference
You are enough! Maybe you have no skills, no knowledge, and no riches.
Maybe you think that you are not good enough, smart enough,
and not great or perfect at doing things.
But no matter the number of permutations and combinations plus genetic experiments,
there is no one that can be like YOU.
Why?
It is because you are valuable.
You have an individual purpose that cannot be compared with others.
As long as you stop comparing yourself to others;
as long as you stop doubting your endowed abilities,
you will see that you are the amazing creation blessed with amazing blend of unique gifts;
above your self-imposed limitation.
“No matter who you are, you can provide value.
We each have an individual purpose. Always Believe in You.” ~ Brooke Griffin

You Have a Gift That Others Need
There are people who get their problems solved just because of you.
If you did not exist, those people who need your help, would never be helped.
Without your presence, those people, who would have made their lives better
will lose this opportunity forever.
You do matter in ways you never imagined.
You can throw more light on a situation that no one else can possibly provide.
You cause a rippling effect just by giving a helping hand; just by taking a little action.
Your solution enables people to achieve a fulfilled life, and this spreads to their families
and their entire generation until it becomes a legacy or philosophy.
Now, some people may not like you; some people might even detest you,
and that is ok because you truly cannot please everyone.
However, those whom you have been called to make a difference
and be of service will cherish your existence and your business.
“Never forget that you are one of a kind.
Never forget that if there weren’t any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth,
you would not be here in the first place.
And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life’s challenges and problems seem to be,
that one person can make a difference in the world.
In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person.” ~  Buckminster Fuller

Your Voice Does Matter
Why would anyone decide to make the greatest impact in your life?
Why would anyone want to provide you with guidance, direction,
and coaching – to enable you to achieve your goals and biggest desires?
I will tell you why.
It is because of their sincere belief in you.
In words and action, they show you that you matter; they believe in your VOICE.
You do have a unique message and voice. This is what people know as a STORY.
Yes! Everyone does have a story, including you. No one can tell your story better than you.
Your story has the power to make a difference, to build up courage, to leave a mark,
to make people overcome their limitations, and to make someone feel belonged.
The world is waiting for your life changing lessons.
Your pain, conflict, heartache, and passion are challenges that can be turned into a life lesson
and be shared with everyone.
Do you know that there are people who are listening to you
and you have caught their attention? Think about this.
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you.
Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision.
So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.” ~ Neil Gaiman

Your Presence Automatically Liberates Others
You do not have to be on the center stage to make a difference.
The reason is simple;
There is somebody out there that is proud of you; thinking about you; cares about you;
wants to talk to you; misses you; celebrates your success; wants to hug you;
believes you are a blessing; admires your strength and courage; values your wisdom;
treasures your spirit; can’t wait to see you; has faith in you and trusts you so much.
Your existence is a sparking light to so many people.
There are people in your life that you inspire.
“There are people in your life that you inspire…
People that see all your best qualities… People who want to be more like you…
People who don’t understand how you can’t see all this yourself…
Try seeing yourself as they do…
See yourself for the amazing creation that you are…” ~ simonboylan

You are Influential and the Change Which the World So Desires
Ever wondered what a football match would be without the fans.
Ever wondered how a presidential speech would turn out without the people of the nation.
Ever wondered what a cause would be without supporters.
Ever wondered how celebrities would come to be without celebrators.
Ever wondered how like-minded individuals would exist without YOU.
You are an influence, whether you believe it or not.
You are the change because your small encounters do matter.
The moments that you create are what make the world a better place.
As you teach others your passionate skill sets the goal.
As you set a good example and show others positivity in a negative world.
As you show others your determination and doggedness to success by taking advantage of failure.
As you let your light shine, you unconsciously give light to others
to become thought provoking leaders, professional champions, peace makers,
renewed activist, creative personalities, renowned business men, awesome mothers,
wonderful fathers and revolutionaries.
Let’s not forget that you are also changing your world
by applying your wisdom to tackle the world’s problems.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens
can change the world. Indeed, it is only one that ever has.” ~ Margaret Mead.

You Can Make A Difference
Yes! You want to help; you have a cause that will benefit people.
You might be an introvert; you might not have enough skill.
You might not have the resources.
You may not have the charisma of leadership.
You might not even know what you are doing,
but there is something inside you that is so powerful.
You have an inner voice to propel you to action, which is the greatest currency in the world.
It is this action that defines your impact.
It is this action that makes you step away from the things you love,
which gives you comfort and forges you towards giving support to humanity.
It is this action that enables you to make a difference and become an inspiration,
even though your journey is full of uncertainties.
“Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep
with a mosquito in the room.” ~ Christine Todd Whitman

The Most Powerful and Happiest Truth is That You Matter.
Now, you do know that you matter. Never let anyone make you feel otherwise.
I would like you to reach out to someone and let them know that they matter.
Remember that a word is enough to make a difference.
Over To You -
In your own words, I will like you to share why do you matter.
If you still believe that you are not significant and don’t matter in this world,
I will love you to share that as well in the comments.

How To Stay Focused - The Key To Being Extremely Productive & Clear-Minded

Sainfoin. Good focus enables success.

Video Summary:
We all struggle to focus at times -- some from attention deficit, some from stimuli overload,
or from fatigue or lack of sleep. Without focus, the body at work becomes mindless and careless,
and sometimes dangerous.

Ideally, we experience periods where we are so fully focused and absorbed by the task
that we're effortless transported into the enviable and highly productive state of "flow."
This optimal state creates high engagement, challenge and happiness.
While "flow" may sometimes happen serendipitously, we can learn to set the stage to summon it.

The easiest steps to create flow are to eliminate distractions and interruptions,
and then to work in time blocks of 60 to 90 minutes.
During these blocks, and as much as possible the rest of the day, do only one thing at a time.

Other techniques for improving focus and getting into flow require a little more preparation,
such as getting enough sleep and practicing meditation while concentrating on breathing.

We've spent too many years living in an all-access, 24 x 7 nonstop world,
chronically trying to "multi-task" -- an unnatural and detrimental state for the human mind. Fortunately, with practice, the human mind can un-learn its restless habits
and return to its natural state of excellence.

Prove Them Wrong - Inspirational and Motivational Video

You do not often see the flowering body of horsetails.

I made this video with the intention to help others in a motivational/inspirational form.
The clips and music I have used I do not own in most cases. My understanding is
that it is in correlation to Fair Right Use, however given that it is open to interpretation,
if any owners of the content clips would like me to remove the video I have no problem and will do as fast as possible, please Email me if you have any concerns at Navidbakhsayesh@gmail.com.

These videos are transformative in a positive sense, I take clips from various sources
to help create an atmospheric feeling that will help people in hard situations in their life.

I also do not wish to use the heart of any piece of the work that would perhaps decrease
the market value of the original content, if anything I hope to promote the content
so that people can reach out and subsequently increase the market value.

Lastly these videos are to educate people in an entertaining fashion. Given these are very short videos the short parts I use within them act as a catalyst to further reading.

You Have So Much Potential

We each do our own to perfection.

You Have So Much Potential
William Tincup, SPHR

If you were MENSA eligible, would you join the organization?
For me, the answer is a resounding NO.
The main reason is… it would screw with me,
and it would hinder my ability to have relationships with normal people.
See… normal people. WTF. If you’re smart, turns out, you know it.
Having an outside, third-party objective organization tell you that you’re smarter than everyone else would be crippling for me.
I’d rather be lucky than smart. Or both. Smarts alone doesn’t mean anything.
If you’re smart, you still have to do something with it—you have to channel it in some way.
Think about it for a moment… would the MENSA card in your wallet help or hurt you?
This of course gets me into Gifted and Talented programs.
Okay, this is going to hurt for some of you people:
Enrolling your kids in Gifted and Talented programs is freaking stupid.
I’m not saying you’re stupid… I’m saying the act of enrolling them in these sham programs is.
Take a moment to let the rage set in. Okay, here’s why: Little Jimmy is smart. On this we can agree. He probably got it from his mother, by the way… but that’s another story for another day.
He’s smart. And, in his current academic situation, he’s not challenged.
He’s running circles around the “normal” kids. I mean, he’s got them working for him he’s so smart.
So you decide to rip Little Jimmy away from Gen Pop and label him Gifted and Talented
for the rest of his life. Let’s stop here for a moment. Getting your kids into Gifted and Talented programs is more about you and less about your kids.
Truth hurts, but it’s the same reason you monitor Little Jimmy’s playing time at first base.
You care; he doesn’t… he just wants to chew purple bubble gum.
Let that sit with you for a moment. How much of this (G&T) is really about Little Jimmy?
Gifted and Talented programs are currency that parents use with and against each other.
My kid walked when he was 4 months old, my kid talked when he was one month old,
my kid read the entire Bible over the summer, my kid does advanced trigonometry for fun…
my kid is in the Gifted and Talented program at our school. Game, Set, Match.
My kid is smarter than yours. Drops mic, walks off stage, gets a Slurpee.
And this type of interaction happens more than you know. Trust me.
So, why would I attack Gifted and Talented programs?
Well, really, I’m not… I’m commenting on parenting.
That aside, if Little Jimmy needs to be challenged then find ways to challenge him or better yet…
get Little Jimmy to find ways to challenge himself.
Also, never label your kid smart or stupid for that matter.
If they’re smart, turns out, they’ll know it soon enough. They’ll also not be entitled.
Gifted and Talented programs come with an air of entitlement.
You’re smart enough to be in this program, you’re smarter than everyone else…
life should be easy… shit should just come your way. And, as we all know, life don’t play that way. You have to work your butt off for everything you get AND be lucky. Hashtag grindtime.
Which gets me to High Potential programs at worky work.
High Potential… High Performer… A Player… all those terms are freakin’ stupid.
Again, if someone is lucky enough to be one of these things… they tend to know it.
So, should we identify our most critical staff (define that as you wish)?
That would be a resounding HELL YES. Should we find out what makes them tick? Hell yes.
Should we provide whatever the hell they need for them (and thusly us) in order to be successful? Hell yes. Should we put them into a program and tell them how smart they are? F#$# NO.
These programs should be clandestine in nature. We know who they are—they should never know. They should never think they’re the future of the firm.
That’s for many reasons but here’s a few:
It sends the wrong message to the normal people,
The folks in the program will feel (rightfully so, I guess) entitled,
and you might be wrong… they might not be the right people to lead the firm in the future.
Let’s deal with last point for a moment. Just because one thinks they are a good speller,
and you think they’re a good speller, doesn’t make them a good speller.
Turns out, Microsoft Word makes them a good speller. I jest of course.
The point being… these Gifted and Talented programs at work are hopeful but often times
they get it wrong and unbeknownst to them… the ripples are felt elsewhere in the organization.
Let’s get back to Little Jimmy. He’s smart. Hopefully he’s ambitious, as well.
At work, you want to retain the services of Little Jimmy. Fair enough.
As we all know… 80% of the value of a firm comes from 20% of the work population…
and Little Jimmy is one of those dudes. Got it.
Then do your homework and be relentless in making sure Little Jimmy has WTF he needs (compensation, perks, titles, staff, projects, etc.).
No labels, no special treatment, no entitlements, no butterfly effect (in case you got it wrong)…
just Little Jimmy adding value… and he’s probably pretty happy to boot.
Silly side note for me:
The word “potential” is a teen and twenties term— it’s laden with optimism and hope.
But once you hit the age of 30, the word “potential” is a backhanded compliment.
Meaning, why the hell haven’t you reached your potential yet? Are you stupid?
I thought you were in the Gifted and Talented program?!
Remember that the next time you use the word or the phrase: You have so much potential.

Fear Of Failure - Why We Have It & How To Deal With It

Be aware of the background but focus  on what is important.

Hey, this is Leo for Actualized.org and in this quick self-help segment,
we are going to talk about fear of failure and how to overcome it.
I'm going to give you some quick and practical techniques and insights
for how to deal with the fear of failure.

What is the fear of failure? It is something that every one of us has.
This is what holds every one of us back from living a charged life, or living to our full potential.
The fact is that the world is dangerous. There are things out there that we need to look out for
and that, in our biology and psychology, through hundreds of thousands of years of evolution,
we have been programmed with ways of thinking and dealing with situations in fearful ways.

Fear is a quick hit of stimulation that gets you to change your behavior.
That is like the "carrot and stick" model of motivation. That's how our reptilian brain works.
When you're faced with a real danger when you're walking through the jungle and all of a sudden, you see a tiger, you have a physical response happening in your brain –
especially in you reptilian brain -- that is just taking over all of you. It is sending you into action.
That's the "fight or flight" response.
All of a sudden, you're geared and motivated. Within a split second,
you're filled with adrenaline and you're off and running away
or grabbing a stick to fend off the tiger or whatever you're doing.
That's totally natural and in the environment we grew up in
because we've evolved through millions of years of "survival of the fittest." It is a dog-eat-dog world.

However, now that we're living in a more humane society
where we don't have to be at each other's throats all the time, that fear is still present.
We still have all of these fears that grip us.
The dangers are not nearly as great as they were and what happens is that this fear paralyzes us
and holds us back. It makes us conservative and safety-minded rather than growth- minded.
We become afraid of trying new things and fear of failure is an aspect of what I was talking about,
but it also ties in with perfectionism. It's thinking that when you do something,
it's going to have to go well. It's going to have to be perfect and if it's not,
then somehow you've failed and that's the worst thing that could possibly happen to you.

I feel qualified to talk about this topic because I have a lot of fear of failure.
Even though I've done years of personal development work
and I've studied so many numerous techniques and strategies and ideas related to this stuff,
the fact is that it's hard to get rid of the fear of failure entirely.
It's something that you have to chip away at slowly.
The best way to deal with fear of failure
is to put yourself in a position where you're relatively safe and secure.
If you're in a dangerous and hostile environment, then you have to handle that.
I'm not talking about a hostile environment in your mind.

Some poor country in Africa where you face a danger of getting your arms chopped off
with a machete is a hostile environment
and a suburb in the United States is not a hostile environment.

Why Am I Depressed? - The Shocking Truth Behind Your Depression

Crane's-bill; a cheerful flower.

The word "depression" is thrown around a lot these days in our society.
Some associate it with their bank balance,
while others are taking anti-depressants for their symptoms.
It wasn't always this way.

Why is the incidence of depression higher today? While some people are clinically depressed,
the majority of depressed people are self-diagnosed. Why is depression more prevalent in the U.S.
than elsewhere in the developed world? Are third-world people less susceptible to depression,
or do they simply have too many competing issues with which to cope?

Regardless of your diagnosis or lack thereof, deciphering the source of your depression
can identify helpful strategies to ease symptoms. Happiness is partially genetic,
minimally dependent on life circumstances, and the rest is derived from our psychology.

If you're searching for a way to escape the pall of depression, consider whether
you're casting yourself as a victim. Take responsibility for more of your circumstances.

Try to unhook your identity from your problems. Determine if you're living in-authentically,
which can lead to depression.

Multiple DIY techniques can ease symptoms of depression -- rather than relying on medication,
such as introspection, meditation, and exercise.

How to control anger

Common Mallow, has been used to promote calmness.

Video Summary:
We get angry when someone or something violates our standards,
even though we may be the only one who knows what the standard is.
People who are angry are operating at a low level of consciousness.
Almost nothing out in the world can justify an angry outburst –
the problem is on the inside, not with the world.
Giving in to your anger doesn't reduce or purge it, but actually reinforces it, forming a bad habit
Sometimes you can talk yourself out of the anger for the minute.
Remember that the person you're judging so harshly never agreed to abide by your standards.
Can you accept that their value system may be different than yours?
Ask yourself if you've ever done the same thing that you're now judging so harshly.
Think of some possible scenarios why they may have done it.
Your anger arises from the disintegration of part of yourself.
Your anger is caused by repressing or denying something within you.
Your ego can't deal with the contradiction of the standard you wish to enforce,
when you can't uphold it yourself. So you project blame onto someone who exhibits
the same behavior. Once you realize what shortcoming is making your so judgmental and angry,
you can work to change it.

Learning to Want

This cotton thistle wants a bee.

Learning to Want
From the Life Coaching Deck:

A while ago, I told the story of Magda about using “the wanting muscle”,
learning to want and exercising choice.
She learned that she was allowed to want things for herself
– that she had to live by her own expectations.
Two weeks later, I saw Magda for the second time.
She looked so much more alive and beautiful.
Her skin was shiny and she was smiling happily.
She behaved like a giggling teenager when she told me the list of her wants
was getting bigger every day.
Funnily enough, her daughter was the one who had helped her with that task.
This was good news for Magda,
because she had also managed to teach her daughter that it was OK to want.
“I saw my mom 4 days ago and I am going again after work tomorrow.
I’ve decided to take 4 days off in between. It is bliss.
She still complains, but no more than she did when I was there every day”.
She was grinning from ear to ear.
“And Marco?” I asked.
“My daughter has been nagging me to go see him for two whole weeks.
I went to see him 3 days ago over the weekend. I surprised him.
I knocked on the door and he was happy to see me!
I told him I was seeing someone
… a woman, a life coach, who was helping me”, she said.
“Are you back together?” I asked her.
“I told him I would understand if he wanted to take a break until I finished my work with you
and he said, ‘I love you. Relationships are “work in progress” and you and I are in this together'”.
I thought those were the words of a very loving man.
Together with the fact that she had not been visiting her mom,
they had spent the previous 3 days together,
without anyone nagging them about their relationship.
It was no wonder she was over the moon.
She left after two hours with the same list of things to do at home (called “action steps”) and more.
I was happy to reflect on my session and think,
“Yes! One more person regained control over her life by learning that wanting is OK
and by making her own choices”.
May the choice be with you!
