Sorry, but EQ Is Way More Important Than IQ These Days

Sorry, but EQ Is Way More Important Than IQ These Days
Royale Scuderi

Many experts now believe that a person’s emotional intelligence quotient (EQ)
may be more important than their IQ and is certainly a better predictor of success,
quality of relationships, and overall happiness.

It’s interesting to note how the concept of emotional intelligence has evolved over the years,

from its inception as something called “social intelligence” all the way back in the 1930’s,
to “emotional strength” in the mid-20th century,
to its current terminology, “emotional intelligence.”
Emotional intelligence (EI) is, in layman’s terms, our level of ability to:

Recognize and understand our emotions and reactions (self-awareness)
Manage, control, and adapt our emotions, mood, reactions, and responses (self-management)
Harness our emotions to motivate ourselves to take appropriate action, commit, follow-through,
and work toward the achievement of our goals (motivation)
Discern the feelings of others, understand their emotions, and utilize that understanding
to relate to others more effectively (empathy)
Build relationships, relate to others in social situations, lead, negotiate conflict,
and work as part of a team (social skills)
Emotional intelligence is essential to building a balanced-life.

If you think emotional intelligence is only important for those who
always have to interact or communicate with people, think it again.

Emotional intelligence is a gateway to a balanced-life. It’s essential to basically every aspect of life.

Physical Health – The ability to take care of our bodies and especially to manage our stress,
which has an incredible impact on our overall wellness, is heavily tied to our emotional intelligence.     Only by being aware of our emotional state and our reactions to stress in our lives
can we hope to manage stress and maintain good health.

Mental Well-Being – Emotional intelligence affects our attitude and outlook on life.
It can also help to alleviate anxiety and avoid depression and mood swings. A high level of emotional intelligence directly correlates to a positive attitude and happier outlook on life.

Relationships – By better understanding and managing our emotions,
we are better able to communicate our feelings in a more constructive way. We are also better able to understand and relate to those with whom we are in relationships. Understanding the needs, feelings, and responses of those we care about leads to stronger and more fulfilling relationships.

Conflict Resolution – When we can discern people’s emotions and empathize
with their perspective, it’s much easier to resolve conflicts or possibly avoid them before they start.       We are also better at negotiation due to the very nature of our ability to understand the needs
and desires of others. It’s easier to give people what they want if we can perceive what it is.

Success – Higher emotional intelligence helps us to be stronger internal motivators,
which can reduce procrastination, increase self-confidence, and improve our ability to focus
on a goal. It also allows us to create better networks of support, overcome setbacks,
and persevere with a more resilient outlook.
Our ability to delay gratification and see the long-term directly affects our ability to succeed.

Leadership – The ability to understand what motivates others, relate in a positive manner,
and to build stronger bonds with others in the workplace inevitably makes those
with higher emotional intelligence better leaders. An effective leader can recognize
what the needs of his people are, so that those needs can be met in a way that encourages
higher performance and workplace satisfaction. An emotionally savvy and intelligent leader
is also able to build stronger teams by strategically utilizing the emotional diversity
of their team members to benefit the team as a whole.

Emotional intelligence is still not completely understood, but what we do know is that emotions play a very critical role in the overall quality of our personal and professional lives,
more critical even than our actual measure of brain intelligence. While tools and technology
can help us to learn and master information, nothing can replace our ability to learn, manage,
and master our emotions and the emotions of those around us.
Emotional intelligence is not something inborn; there are ways to take control of your emotions.
It’s never too late to learn anything, so no matter how old you are,
you can still take up EI and make the rest of your life better and happier.

1. Observe your feelings.
We easily lose touch with our emotions when we’re too busy worrying about what to do next
and what can be done better. Instead of really taking good care of our emotions,
we choose to ignore them most of the time.
What we don’t realize is that suppressing our emotions only makes things worse.
The more we try to put our emotions behind, the more uncontrollable our emotions become.
When we have an emotional reaction to something,
it can be due to the fact that we’re having some unsolved issues. So next time when you feel like having some negative emotions, calm down and think about why you’re experiencing this.
Take a deep breath and write down the emotions you’re experiencing and the possible reasons.
When you have things written down,
you can identify your emotions triggers and think of ways to deal with each of them.

2. Practice responding, not reacting.
Reacting is an unconscious process where we behave in an unconscious way
that expresses or relieves an emotion. Responding is a conscious process that involves
paying attention to your feelings and deciding how to behave.
When you’re more aware of your emotional triggers,
you can always think about the way to behave in advance.
For example, if you know that you get angry easily and throw temper to colleagues
when you’re feeling very stressful at work, take note of that and think about what you can do next time when you’re experiencing the same trigger. Maybe you can try to tell your colleagues
that you need some silent moments because you’re feeling stressful at the moment,
or maybe you can get a few minutes of alone time just to calm down yourself first.

3. Stay humble all the times.
When you always believe that you’re better than others, you’ll not see your own faults,
and you’ll likely to get emotional about things that don’t meet your expectation.
Try to look at the same thing from a different perspective. Instead of judging someone
or something, put yourself in someone else’s shoes and try to think or feel like them:
would you do or feel the same too and why? In this way, you’re likely to understand
other people’s thoughts and emotions more; and you’ll probably learn something new
about how to deal with stuff in similar situations too.
Be humble enough to know you’re not better than anyone,
and wise enough to know that you’re different from the rest!
Emotional intelligence can be learned, it’s a lifetime process.
It’s never too late to learn anything; it just takes continuous observation and practice.
So no matter how old you are, y
ou can still take up EI and make the rest of your life better and happier.

HOW TO OPEN YOUR THIRD EYE - Pineal Gland - DNA Activation

Creeping thistle

The sixth chakra is known as the 3rd eye. According to the yogis, the pituitary gland of the sixth chakra and the pineal gland of the seventh chakra must join essences to open the 3rd eye.

PITUITARY GLAND

The master gland is about the size of a pea, located behind the center of our forehead,
between our eyes. The sixth chakra is called the Brow Chakra.
It is the main control center that sends messages to all the other glands from its two lobes,
the posterior and the anterior.
It prompts the proper growth of glands and organs and regulates sexual development.

This gland is called the “seat of the mind”. The frontal lobe regulates emotional thoughts
like poetry and music. The anterior lobe regulates concrete thought and intellectual concepts.

The pineal gland is known as the “seat of illumination, intuition and cosmic consciousness”.
The pineal gland compares to the pituitary gland as intuition is to reason.

The opened 3rd eye is known as the Eye of Horus and the Horn of the Unicorn.
The Temple of Maat in early Egypt was dedicated to the process of opening the Third Eye.
The Third Eye is an etheric, or fourth dimensional, eye. It acts as a sensitive receiver and transmitter,     by which vibrations of many types can be translated, interpreted and dispersed
into our third dimensional brains for gaining wisdom and illumination.
Inner planes, thought forms, and higher entities are perceived through the 3rd eye.
A clearer sense of cause and effect are acquired.

Eyes need a lens to give meaning to perceived light sensations.
The 3rd eye’s lens is located in the aura, just in front of the sixth chakra.
Psychic construction of this lens is part of the discipline that leads to the accurate perception
with the inner eye. Using this point in the aura (between the eyes and the center of the forehead)
as a focal point during meditation, you can facilitate the development of the 3rd eye’s lens.

In this video Jerry gives you tips on how to activate your third eye and see the truth.

7 Signs You Are In A Happy Relationship, According To Science

Woodbridge UK

7 Signs You Are In A Happy Relationship, According To Science
Sophie Gallagher

Many relationships go through ups and downs,
but only some of them are going to stand the test of time.
And because we don’t have a crystal ball to look into our romantic future
(as much as we would like one), we’ve called on science for some good old-fashioned evidence
that our relationship is as good as we believe it is.
So here are seven signs that you are in a happy place with your partner.

1. You have had previous long-term relationships.
No one likes to dwell on past relationships when you’re busy falling in love with someone new,
but it turns out it might help our new endeavours.
According to relationship expert, Dr Jacqui Gabb, those of us who have loved and lost shouldn’t
“lock that experience away in a cupboard”. Instead we should learn from those experiences,
picking up on relationship warning signs and learning who to hold on to.

2. You met each other on Tinder.
...or any other online dating app for that matter.
A study found that couples who met online, rather than at work or in a bar,
are more satisfied with each other and less likely to break up.
The study said:
“This data suggests that the internet may be altering the dynamics and outcomes of marriage itself.”

3. You don’t post annoying photographs on Facebook.
As much as it might seem really tempting to post that #couplegoals selfie on Facebook,
a study has found that those who don’t post their relationship all over the internet are the happiest.
This is because they aren’t anxiously seeking other people validate their romance. #So remember that fact next time you’re picking out the best filter to optimise your smugness.

4. You enjoy watching Netflix together.
It’s Friday night, and you’ve settled down with a takeaway and a night in front of the television
for the third week in a row. While it might not feel like you’re living your best social life,
watching boxsets and movies is “good for relationships” and for your health,
according to researchers.
This is because it supposedly enhances the quality of your time together
(they clearly haven’t seen you arguing over GOT plot spoilers).

5. You make time to pay them compliments.
Everyone likes to hear nice stuff said about themselves, but in a relationship
things can easily get a little stale and forced on that front.
So you’ll be pleased to hear that science wants us all to pay a few more compliments
and say “thank you” more often, as it is one of the most important factors
in keeping a relationship healthy across all groups.

6. You have sex once a week.
f you’re worried everyone is getting between the sheets more than you, then you might be comforted to know that the optimum amount of sex for a happy relationship is just once a week.
While having an adult sleepover more than once a week doesn’t hurt, it also isn’t making
a difference to your happiness levels, so you might want to conserve your energy.

7. You do not have any children together.
Although this may not be the plan forever, you should enjoy your childless years,
as one of the biggest ever studies of relationships in Britain revealed that
if you want to be as happy as possible, you’re better off not having kids.
Childless men and women are more satisfied with their relationships
and more likely to feel valued by their partner.

Prioritize Like a Genius

Who are you looking at?

Do you find yourself giving away your time, attention and energy to other people with no sense of peace or progress? Is your agenda your agenda, or somebody else's? Here are three new ways to think about how you prioritize your day:

1. Stop prioritizing easy:
While a lot of people think knocking off the easy tasks on their to-do list will create momentum, it actually stops them from doing what counts. If you find your day filled with busy work instead of your life's work, remember that just because there is something easy to do does not mean it should be done. The activities in your day should add to your vitality, enjoyment and the contributions you want to make in the world. Ask yourself, "What three things must happen today that will move me forward toward my dreams?" Stop prioritizing easy; start prioritizing progress. By taking on something hard every day, you gain more confidence, momentum and meaning.

2. Stop prioritizing false emergencies:
Don't re-prioritize your life's work to handle someone else's false emergency. Prioritize what will move you forward and initially say no to everything else. You owe nothing to anybody but your own health, family and major contributions of what you want to give to the world; every other request is a sudden distraction. By focusing on what's important to you and making sure you accomplish that first, you leap forward in life, live your truth and serve your highest good.

3. Start prioritizing freedom:
You have the potential to experience more emotional, physical, social, financial and time freedom every day. Whether it's a 20 minute meditation that makes you feel alive and connected, a health practice for cultivating more energy, or time breaks in your day where dream up and develop your next major contribution, you have the ability to make your days magical.

As you prioritize with these three decisions, you become the architect of your day and put yourself back in control of your agenda. Do this and you will start to experience more of what we call The Charged Life!

Your Anger is a Guide: Embrace It and Set Yourself Free

Sweet pea decorating a mesh fence.

Your Anger is a Guide: Embrace It and Set Yourself Free
Anne Uemura

“Where there is anger there is always pain underneath.” ~Eckhart Tolle

In the sixth year of marriage, my husband shocked me by telling me that he had decided on
an open marriage. This would give him permission to do what he was already doing, having an affair.
In one of my rare times of anger I argued and struggled with him. I can still see myself hitting him
in the chest as he tried to put his arms around me to reassure me of his love.
As he defended his position, he reminded me that I wasn’t being rational. I stopped protesting because that charge impacted me immediately. Logic and rationality were my guides.
This surge of anger was new in my life. I had learned to bury my feelings, especially anger,
growing up in my Japanese-American family where we hid most emotions.
Adding to pushing down my feelings, I relied on intellect, my head, and dismissed my heart.
When he attacked a vulnerable spot—to be rational—I became silent.
It was the first of three betrayals I lived quietly through over the years.
I swallowed two other screams of “No!” when, over the years, I learned about two other women,
who intruded not only into my life, but also into my home.

Why would any woman stand for this?
Besides suppressing my emotions, I also learned from a young age to make the needs of the group, the others, more important than my own.
Throughout my life, I let other people’s needs define my life.
I disregarded my anger and I disregarded my needs.

Why Burying Anger is a Recipe for Unhappiness
When you bury anger, more than your anger is involved—you dampen all emotions, including joy.
In my case, I was the model of a well-adjusted successful professional and,
after I divorced my husband, a single mom.
Inside a deep discontent lived undetected in my heart.
It wasn’t until I slowed down in early retirement that I became aware of it.
When you don’t have anger, you may think that there’s nothing wrong with your life.

Why We Often Choose to Bury Our Anger
You learn in childhood that adults don’t like you being angry.
When you throw a temper tantrum, large or small, you get punished for it.
This teaches you that being angry is bad and you should keep it to yourself.
As an adult, when anger gets the best of you and you show it,
people around you don’t respond well to it either.
Some get frightened by anger. Others get defensive or angry in return. Exchanges full of anger
often lead to regret and shame. They can even end a close friendship–a price you don’t want to pay.

Embracing Your Anger Does Not Mean Throwing Tantrums
When you express your anger, you think that you’re right and that the other person or situation needs to change. Or you say regretful, stupid things fueled by anger.
In any case, you believe that someone or something outside you is the cause of your anger.
This stance makes it easy to miss the early signal to go inside and investigate.
Embracing anger is turning inward to know your heart.
It means spending time with your anger to learn what is under it—what’s really going on.

Treat Every Inner Disturbance as a Clue
Nothing changed in my life until I started to pay attention to all disturbances in peace I experienced, the little irritations, annoyances that were signs of anger.
I began to appreciate whatever anger bubbled up because I saw it as a guide.
Here’s an instance of a little annoyance I would have disregarded earlier in my life. I was talking with my partner on a walk through downtown about some insights I had about an important relationship. He interrupted me to point out how a new hotel construction was being completed,
with details that could be barely seen at night.
I felt disturbed, but instead of just burying that feeling like I normally would, I asked myself
why I felt that way. I realized the annoyance pointed to anger about attention taken away from me. Needing attention from people who matter is a need I have.
If I don’t get the attention, I feel like I don’t matter.
I also recognized that my typical strategy would be to remain silent and let my partner go on.
But instead of being silent, I stepped out of the pattern to speak up and stand with a new belief
that I am important and deserving of attention.
In this instance, once noticing the disturbance and realizing what it meant, I said, “What I’m saying is more important to me than what you’re pointing out that I can see another time.”
My message was accepted with a small apology.
Attuned to the energy of anger, I found it hidden in jealousy, envy, blame, frustration, disappointment, regret, withdrawal, stubbornness, and shame.
I even found it in my lack of kindness in talking to my partner, my banging cupboard doors,
my prolonged silence, and my criticism and judgment of others.
When you follow each sign of anger you will find what is buried in your heart.
You will discover what you need to resolve lifelong patterns that limited your growth.
Through Your Anger You Discover Your Needs, Beliefs, and Strategies
I began to know and honor the needs underlying my anger,
such as my needs for acknowledgement and attention as I describe above.
I also realized I had many limiting beliefs that stemmed back to my childhood,
when my needs weren’t met. This is where my feeling of not mattering came from,
but now I could recognize it and deal with it.
Related to these beliefs I also saw the variety of limiting strategies I adopted trying to get these needs met. Some of these were being an over-achiever, a perfectionist, and overly self-reliant.
To illustrate, I recently felt angry when I didn’t make the cut in auditioning for a voice ensemble.  When I stayed with my anger, I found the pain of a wounded young-child who believed
she wasn’t worthy, and saw clearly her strategies of people-pleasing
and over-achieving that failed to get her what she wanted.
Not only does your anger guide you to your needs but it helps you recognize the limiting beliefs
and strategies that run your life. These were created and adopted early in childhood
by a very young child and their limitations deserve examination.

Deeply Exploring Your Anger Involves a Commitment
Taking full advantage of honoring your anger
involves taking the time to begin a process of discovery.
This means remembering to remain the adult compassionate witness to what is there,
and not identifying with or be taken over by the anger,
and finally remaining with the anger long enough until you drop into what is beneath it.
You may discover child-like vulnerability, fears, helplessness, and pain.
When you integrate with lost parts of you, you deconstruct the patterns that run your life
and free your original innocent heart to shine through.

You are Richly Rewarded for Embracing Anger
When you are one with your heart, you know not only your needs for safety, love
and community but your deep longings for meaning and purpose.
You consciously make choices true to your heart.
Then your heart opens—to love more and deeply; to reveal its wisdom; to see the world
as an innocent child; to be present and accepting for all that shows up; and much more.
Embracing anger may be counter-intuitive,
but in doing so you become aware of old, unconscious reactive patterns.
In becoming aware of these patterns you free yourself to choose from a place of power.
Fully in your power you allow yourself to be fully present to experience life
from the only moment you ever have—this present moment.
