The Secret - The Truth They Didn't Tell You

Common mallow.
Did you know they were used to treat wasp stings,
make poultices and cough mixture?

Video Summary:
Were you one of those swept up in the clamor about
"The Secret" (the movie and / or the book)?
Were you convicted by it to make your thoughts more optimistic and focused?
How long did that last? A day? A week?
Or did you miss the movie, and wonder what you missed
as your friends enthusiastically raved about how great it was?

While the movie was based on the Law of Attraction,
a well-respected precept of psychology that states
"like attracts like," the movie fails to equip
the most disciplined among us to make those inspiring changes.
Perhaps it would be unfair to expect that much from any movie.
But it also is not a fair representation of Law of Attraction.
Neither has it been much of a secret.
If you didn't know about it, perhaps you haven't been listening.

The movie is more an unnecessary justification
for Law of Attraction drawn from metaphysics, paranormal phenomenon,

and quantum physics, overlaid with slick marketing techniques,
couched in the words of "experts."

More disturbing, viewers may come away with the impression
that they've been relieved of the responsibility to strive for success -
- they need but "put it out to the universe" to get their just desserts.
Just as disturbing, those who are beating their heads
against walls trying to be a success may interpret that delay
as a sign from the universe that it's not meant to be.
The Law of Attraction does not give you a pass.

How To Change Your Life - Making BIG Life Changes Actually Stick

These have the potential to become trees, everything starts from something small.

Live an awesome exciting life
Learn the insights you MUST know to create big, sustainable changes in your life. Without following these principles, you're bound to be stuck and miserable forever.

Hey, this is Leo for Actualized.org. In this quick self-help segment, we are going to talk about how to change your life.

This is a deep passion of mine. That's why I founded Actualized.org. I wanted to help people change their lives because that's the position that I was in five years ago.

I was struggling and trying to figure out how I could change my life and set it up and design it in such a way that I'm always happy and not dealing with all of this fear, anxiety, and negative emotions and that I'm out there and financially secure and have everything that I want in my life and just living an awesome and exciting life.

How do I get that? How do I go from this mediocre life that I have now to this supercharged life that I know I can have and that I see other people having and that I know I'm capable of getting into?

The problem for me was that I didn't know the techniques or have any friends who had done that. I wondered if it was even possible. That was always on my mind.

Now, after I've made this journey of studying over $100,000 of personal development material and after making all of these radical changes in my life -- from starting a business, becoming financially independent, moving all across the country, improving my dating life dramatically, improving my fitness dramatically, losing a lot of weight and keeping it off, improving my mindsets, and getting myself to think more positively -- it's shown me that it's possible.

Right now, we live in an information era where there are information products that will help you change your life in any way that you want. They're not overhyped. All of these changes are real and they're actually possible.

The only question is whether or not you are going to work the program and go out there and take the question and decide that you want to do this. Are you going to shell out some money to buy the programs that you need or the books and get the help that you need? Are you going to go out there and capitalize on these opportunities?

I think that the most amazing thing is that people don't realize that this is out there for them. Literally, right now, you can create and become whoever you want.

That doesn't mean that you can fly to the moon, but it does mean that whatever career you want to master, you can do. Whatever kind of relationship you want, you can get it. Whatever kind of family life you want, you can get it. Whatever changes you want to make to your beliefs and to any past trauma that is holding you back, you can make all of those changes.

However good you want to make yourself feel, like proud, optimistic, or excited, you can do that. However much travel you want to do, you can do that. However much money you want to make, you can make.

All of this is available to you. The tools are actually available to you. You do have to go out there and look and you have to follow certain principles to do this successfully.

These are the principles of success. They're also the principles of change because success, in a lot of ways, is how to make great changes and make sustainable changes.

What happens is that most of us are not lucky enough to be born successful and to be in the kinds of situations that we want to be in for our whole lives. We usually start off struggling. We don't know where we're going. We grow up in a negative environment with limiting beliefs and friends and family who are not supportive.

What happens is that we feel stuck and we feel like there can be something better. We don't know that there are certain principles that can be followed. Changes are necessary. By the process of making changes, you create this exciting life.

How To Overcome Shyness - Transform Yourself Into An Extrovert

These chickweed flowers tend to be overlooked,
but once you start to study them they have their own fascination.

How To Overcome Shyness - Transform Yourself Into An Extrovert

Video Summary:
Shyness is not innate. We can experience shyness in various settings, typically more acutely in some than in others. Don't label yourself as a shy person. Your shyness is reversible, not a life sentence you must drag around with you forever.

Shyness tends to emerge when we suffer from self-image issues that make us overly worried about what others think. It can appear as lack of eye contact, stuttering, or inability to approach others. One technique to overcome shyness is to care less about what others think. The best method for addressing shyness is to leave your house more. Become more social. For example, join a group with similar interests.

If you're shy at work, strike up friendships with one or two co-workers whom you invite to coffee or lunch. Gradually expand the circle to more people. Interacting in a casual environment will help you be more comfortable sharing your opinions in meetings and cubicles.

To become less shy with the opposite sex, go out with your friends at night, and imitate them, if you feel uncertain. Go bowling or to a concert if not to a bar or a club. Practice being less shy by chatting up service workers who assist you at the cashier counter or the restaurant. They're paid to be nice to people -- you can start perfecting your conversation skills with them. They'll appreciate being treated like human beings, not robots.

5 NLP Techniques That Will Transform Your Life

Become aware.

5 NLP Techniques That Will Transform Your Life

In this post I’ve listed many of the most impactful techniques that will help you change behavior, get better results and attract more positive experiences.

1. Dissociation
It’s easy to react to something negatively and then become stressed or upset about it.
For example, if your partner drives you crazy and you get angry in response.
The following NLP technique can help neutralize negative emotions in such situations. It can even cure phobias, because it allows to objectively view the situation.

Here are the steps:

1. Identify what emotion you want to get rid of, be it fear of spiders, uneasiness about some person or dislike of some place.

2. See yourself encountering the situation from start to finish, as an observer.

3. Play the same mental movie backwards, then fast-forward it and then play it backwards again.

4. Play it backwards and then add a funny music to the mental movie. Do this 3-4 times.

5. Now try to see in your mind the same event like it was happening to you now. The emotions towards the stimulus should have disappeared or changed. If you still feel some kind of negative emotion, keep repeating this exercise until the negative emotion has completely disappeared.

2. Content Reframe

This NLP technique works great when you are in a situation which makes you feel powerless, angry or when something negative happens to you. It changes the meaning of the situation making you think about it in a different, more empowering way. In other words, it allows you to put the content of the situation in a different frame.

Let’s say that you have just got fired from your job. That seems very bad when you think about it, but be willing to see other aspects of the situation. Because you lost your job, you now became open for better positions and you can explore different kinds of areas of work that can let you develop your other skills. This experience will also toughen you up and you will become a more courageous person. And when you look back at this incident after 10 years, you will simply laugh about it.

In this example I simply re-framed the content of what has happened. I’ve changed a view about the situation and took the focus off the bad aspects. This lets one see the situation in a completely new light and this makes it easier to make better decisions because the focus is on good aspects of the situation.

What people usually tend to do in such unexpected situations is panic and think fear-based thoughts. That can lead only to more problems and failures. You should take your focus out of the negative aspects of the situation and look for the benefits of the situation. There are always good and bad points of any situation and it’s much more useful to focus on the good ones.

3. Self-anchoring

Self-anchoring is mainly used in NLP to elicit some kind of emotional response to something that you do or say. For example, it is possible for the person to start unconsciously smiling when you touch his/her shoulder.

That’s very useful because you can instantly change how you feel. This helps in many situations, especially when you feel insecure or upset. You can simply anchor a positive emotional response and fire the anchor whenever you get upset.

Here’s a basic way to do it:

1. Identify the state you want to experience, be it happiness, courage or something else.

2. Do whatever it takes for you to get into such a state – body language can help here a lot, like sitting straight or intentionally smiling, or maybe remembering something good.

3. When you’re completely in the state, imagine a smoke circle on the ground and step into it. Feel absolutely great in the circle, bath in this beautiful energy.

4. Now step out of it and think something unrelated to the emotion you felt.

5. Then, after a few minutes, step into the circle again and observe your response. If the process has been successful, you should have the same emotional response as previously stepping in and being in the circle.

4. Rapport

Rapport is a very important and quite easy skill to master that enables you to get along with any kind of person.

There are many ways to create rapport with people. You can follow the breathing patterns of a person, you can mirror his/her body language (not too obviously, of course) or you can use similar words that the other person uses.

You can also assess the person’s main sensory perception, be it, kinesthetic or auditory and then use the same perception yourself. You can do that by simply talking to the person and paying attention to what kind of words the person uses.

You know that the person’s main sensory perception is auditory when she uses phrases/words such as:

“I hear you”
“Her voice was loud”
“He scratched the surface”
“I’m listening to you”
sound
noise

You know that the person’s main sensory perception is visual when she uses phrases/words such as:

“I see what you mean”
“My vision is clear”
“Your future is bright”
glittering
dark

You know that the person’s main sensory perception is kinesthetic when he uses phrases/words such as:
“I feel that it’s the right thing to do”
“I have a bad feeling about this”
“She had a pleasant vibe”
warm
touch

5. Belief Change

There are three types of limiting beliefs:
Beliefs about cause
Beliefs about meaning
Beliefs about identity

They all influence how you view the world and filter out the bits of reality that doesn’t fit into your belief system. Your beliefs allow you to become aware of the aspects of reality that are in harmony with them. Beliefs are very powerful because they determine what experiences you will have in life.

Beliefs form because of the facts that you encounter relating to some experience. If you’ve had some negative experience and you dwelled on it, you would then start attracting more similar experiences that would reaffirm your rightness about the situation.

If you could straight away do a content reframe, you will not have formed the belief in the first place. But what most people do is keep dwelling on the bad stuff that happened to them and then they’re surprised when they keep encountering similar situations.

Any situation is neither good nor bad, only our thinking makes it so. So when you focus on the negative aspects of what has happened to you, you start forming a negative (which is always limiting) belief which will cause you to attract the experiences that would only affirm your limiting beliefs. So you are as though attracting facts that further deepen negative beliefs.

If the experience was negative and you focused on it, you’ve set a filter for further similar facts to reach you. For example, if you’ve been in a bad relationship you may start thinking that all men/women are the same.

To change limiting beliefs it’s necessary to gather more positive facts about the situation than negative ones. Then you will need to deal with negative facts and question if they really are facts.

Another way to eliminate negative beliefs is to spend five minutes a day affirming a completely different belief to your current one. This should be done when it’s quiet and you should completely focus on the affirmation. You should have no other thoughts or mental pictures in your head when you affirm your new belief. You should completely focus on your words and understand their meaning, rather than thinking about something else whilst affirming beliefs.

This is an extremely effective exercise because it allows you to lightly hypnotize yourself by entirely focusing on one sentence. Because of the induced hypnosis all the new beliefs go directly to your unconscious mind which is responsible for making your beliefs and thoughts a reality.

If you do this effectively, after 30 days or even earlier, your life will start reflecting the new belief.

Conclusion

If done properly, these five NLP techniques can change many aspects of your life. If some technique doesn’t seem to produce the desired effect, keep repeating the exercise until the wanted effect is reached.

These NLP techniques are very effective and work on everyone. It’s definitely worth taking a few minutes to try at least a couple of them. When you see the results, you will be more than happy to spend some time to apply them to all the areas of your life that need improvement.

Always Hungry? 5 Ways to Satisfy Your Inner Hunger

Allow your fullness to emerge.

Always Hungry? 5 Ways to Satisfy Your Inner Hunger
By Kimber Simpkins

“The danger is not that the soul should doubt whether there is any bread, but that,
by a lie, it should persuade itself that it is not hungry.” ~Simone Weil
For most of my life, I was hungry all the time.
My belly only ever felt full for a few precious seconds while eating the last few bites on my plate.
One night after having dinner with friends, we stood outside the restaurant on the sidewalk,
chatting and saying our goodbyes. I launched into an enthusiastic description of the next restaurant where we should eat, how fantastic their desserts were, what tasty little appetizers they served…
“How can you talk about food right now?” my friend Pete laughed. “I’m stuffed full!”
He held onto his stomach like it might burst open.
“I don’t know,” I stammered. “I’m still kinda hungry, I guess.”
Avoiding his glance, I stared down at the cracks in the sidewalk.
In that moment I realized that even with all the yummy Ethiopian food we’d consumed
over the last hour or so, some corner of my belly still wanted more.
Even worse, I realized I could sit right down and eat the entire meal over again, from start to finish.
Later at home, when the initial feeling of shame passed, a sense of amazement crept over me.
Pete was genuinely full—in fact, he was surprised I wasn’t!
He didn’t feel hungry all the time, especially not right after a meal.
Did this mean that the bottomless hunger I felt wasn’t the human condition after all?
Could I sit down at a meal and push away my plate, full and satisfied,
without the wish that I could just repeat the whole experience of eating over again?
I could, but only after I figured out that I wasn’t only hungry for food.
I was hungry for enjoyment and satisfaction, and not just in my belly, but in my whole life.
Somewhere as a kid, between dressing Barbie for her date with Ken and going on my first diet,
I lost track of the idea that I was allowed to enjoy my body, my food, and just being alive.
I decided that always feeling hungry and vaguely dissatisfied was part of growing up.
But thanks to Pete, once I knew that everyone wasn’t always hungry, there was no going back.
I had to learn the bigger lesson—that hunger isn’t simply about filling our bellies
(though feeling physically contented matters), but about something deeper:
a hunger for connection, enjoyment, and love.
From my own experience of learning to feel full, body and heart,
here are five ways to satisfy your inner hunger.

1. Get to know your hungers.
Make a list of what you are hungry for. Start with food, but then ask yourself,
“What am I hungry for that isn’t food?” Make a list of all the things your mind, heart, and body crave.
On my list you can find things like: “Spend time outside. Do yoga. Share with friends. Listen to music.”
Give yourself the things that nourish you as often as possible.
Then pause and notice when you feel full and satisfied after enjoying them.
Look for even small moments when you feel full and let yourself take in that feeling of satisfaction.

2. Give yourself permission to enjoy beauty in the world.
Watch the colors shift with the sunrise, pause and take in how the evening sunlight
illuminates the rose petals. Invite in art, photography, textures, water,
whatever provides nourishing food for your eyes and heart.
What do you find genuinely, satisfyingly beautiful? Make a point of offering yourself beauty
and take it in as fully as possible. Breathe with it and let it fill you.

3. Honor your need for connection.
One of our most basic human hungers is for connection with each other.
We sometimes feel shame about how much we need reassurance, love,
and recognition from each other.
What are you hungry for in your relationships?
Notice if you are receiving enough sweetness, laughter, touch, and intimacy.
Look for opportunities to consciously ask for and receive fulfillment of those needs.

4. Feed yourself love.
Without realizing it, many of us are starving for self-love.
When we criticize and judge ourselves, we place ourselves outside the realm of worthiness.
We say things to ourselves that if someone else said,
we would remark on what a jerk they were and never speak to them again.
Notice when you’re being hard on yourself, and then try the following practice.
When my thoughts turn in the direction of, “What’s wrong with me? I’ll never get this right,”
I place a hand over my heart and repeat to myself phrases of loving kindness:
“May I be happy. May I be well. May I be safe. May I be full of peace.”
I find the repeated phrases help to reset my brain in the direction of friendliness toward myself instead of self-criticism and let me relax into self-soothing.
Try it and see if you can use these simple phrases to shift your own negative default patterns.

5. Let every meal be an opportunity to savor and enjoy your food.
I’ve found fullness is as much about how I eat as what I eat.
They say that we actually absorb more nutrients and feel more satisfied
when we fully enjoy our meals. Try to sit down and savor at least one meal every day.
Look at the variety of colors, smell the scents, taste all the flavors,
and close your eyes and let yourself make sounds of satisfaction.
Take in as much obvious and authentic pleasure as you can and see how it affects your satiety.
Even pause for a moment before or while you eat and offer yourself this simple blessing:
“May I feel full. May my body feel full. May all bodies everywhere feel full.”
My wish for you is this: May you use these steps to help feel full in every aspect of your life.

Do You Believe That You’re Not Good Enough? Try This! – with Chris Milbank

Do You Believe That You’re Not Good Enough? Try This! – with Chris Milbank
Many people have the commonly held belief that they are not good enough.
Having this belief means that people limit themselves and hold themselves back in many areas of life
- work, relationships, and things they want to do with their lives.

Take a few seconds to think of one area of your own life where you feel that you are
not good enough. Now think about how that has impacted you in the past,
how it impacts you now and how it will impact your future.
Try to be aware of any feelings or emotions you may be experiencing.
Also note any physical tensions such as shortness of breath,
or an unsettled stomach or other things such as this.
There is a technique for releasing your emotions which is outlined below.
This technique uses opposites and an emotional energy releasing hold to accomplish this.

Technique to Overcome the Feeling of Not Being Good Enough

·         Step 1 - Take your thumb and ring finger and place them either side the bridge (top) of your nose.
Place your middle finger on your forehead. Place your opposite hand across the back of your head.
Close your eyes then focus on not being good enough
in whatever area of life you were just thinking of.
·         Now, silently (in your head) repeat each line fifteen or more times
before moving to the next line.
·         Step 2 - I believe that I am not good enough.5
·         Step 3 - I disbelieve that I am not good enough.
·         Step 4 - I truly believe that I am not good enough.
·         Step 5 - I truly disbelieve that I am not good enough.
·         Step 6 - I 100% truly, thoroughly, and utterly believe that I am not good enough.
·         Step 7 - I 100% truly, thoroughly, and utterly disbelieve that I am not good enough.
·         Step 8 - I believe that I am good enough.
·         Step 9 - I disbelieve that I am good enough.
·         Step 10 - I truly believe that I am good enough.
·         Step 11 - I truly disbelieve that I am good enough.
·         Step 12 - I 100% truly, thoroughly, and utterly disbelieve that I am good enough.
·         Step 13 - I 100% truly, thoroughly, and utterly believe that I am good enough.
·         Step 14 - Believed believeable beliefs are believably believable.
·         Step 15 - Disbelieved disbelieveable disbeliefs are disbelievably disbelieveing.

Now take a minute and notice any changes in feeling in your body or in your mind.
Keep up awareness for over the coming days and notice ways in which things have changed.
You can try the same process with other areas in your life where you don't feel good enough.

I recorded this and used my desktop keyboard to count the repetitions.
Whenever I hear Chris I laugh inside as I find his delivery to be so amusing
that if I hear anyone else doing Reflective Repatterning I tune into that amusement.
However, I found myself laughing as I could not pronounce the last two lines.
Playing with therapy is therapeutically beneficial as you get your serious controlling mind
and needs out of the way and so let the intent of the therapy into your innermind.
