Views on Ageing with a little inspiration

I took this photo at Malham, Yorkshire. I almost got the orb in the hole. M'reen

George Carlin's Views on Aging (and some inspiration)

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old
is when we're kids?

If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging
that you think in fractions.
"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!"
You're never thirty-six and a half.
You're four and a half, going on five!

That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back.
You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?"
"I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16!
And then the greatest day of your life...you become 21.
Even the words sound like a ceremony...YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there?
Makes you sound like bad milk.
He TURNED 30! We had to throw him out.
There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling.

What's wrong? What's changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.

Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away.
Before you know it, you REACH 50...and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70!

After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle;
you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.
And it doesn't end there.

Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92."
Then a strange thing happens.

If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again.
"I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight
and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain idle.
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family,
pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
    Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county;
to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.

George Carlin posted on his own web site about such soapboxings:
DON'T BLAME ME

Floating around the Internet these days, posted and e-mailed back and forth,
are a number of writings attributed to me, and I want people to know they're not mine.
Don't blame me.

Some are essay-length, some are just short lists of one and two-line jokes,
but if they're flyin' around the Internet, they're probably not mine.
Occasionally, a couple of jokes on a long list might have come from me, but not often.
And because most of this stuff is really lame, it's embarrassing to see my name on it.

And that's the problem.
I want people to know that I take care with my writing, and try to keep my standards high.
But most of this "humor" on the Internet is just plain stupid.
I guess hard-core fans who follow my stuff closely would be able to spot the fake stuff,
because the tone of voice is so different.
But a casual fan has no way of knowing, and it bothers me that some people might
believe I'd actually be capable of writing some of this stuff.

Carlin offered this bit of wisdom for discerning whether he wrote any of various items
attributed to him: "Nothing you see on the Internet is mine unless
it came from one of my albums, books, HBO shows, or appeared on my website."

As to who actually penned the piece, the evidence points to comedian Larry Miller.
Some people recall seeing him perform it as part of his routine,
and the following bit is attributed to him in a 1998 book:
If you're less than ten years old you're so excited about aging you think in fractions.
"How old are you?" "Six and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half.
Then a strange thing happens.
If you make it over 100 you become a kid again. "104. And a half!"

Mindfulness in the morning is more than meditation. Energetic NLP: How to Retrieve Your Energy from Other People

Mindfulness in the morning is more than meditation.
By Louis Alloro

   Alarm clock goes off
The alarm goes off in the morning. You may think:
(a) I didn’t get enough sleep last night.
(b) I am super excited to start the day.
Most people, whether they are conscious of it or not, think (a)
“I didn’t get enough sleep last night” as they hit the snooze button for eight more minutes of sleep.
In fact, it’s a thought like this that causes an action of inaction which keeps you staying in bed,
missing your workout, and being late to work.
Further, this thought of “not enough” is the first in a slew of negative, scarcity thoughts
that continue all day long, usually ending with “I haven’t gotten enough done today”
as they hit the pillow to go to sleep at night.

Sound familiar?
Psychologists call it negativity bias, the notion supported by research that we are wired
to focus on potential threats, the “what if something bad will happen next” type of thought
that has an adaptive purpose in the era of survival.
(Think saber tooth tiger potentially around the next corner in the woods.)

But for those of us looking to thrive, we can learn to recondition our often default thinking
onto a more positive path, thereby influencing our energy, immunity, sleep, and even success.
(Think Olympic athlete as she prepares to go for the gold.)

Here’s where mindfulness comes in.
Mindfulness is “A mental state of calm awareness of the present moment, marked by acceptance, openness and curiosity toward your thoughts and feelings, rather than judgments of them,”
according to the consensual definition.

When you recognize scarcity thinking, you may think:
(a) There you go again, you negative Nelly.
(b) Isn’t that fascinating that I am so conditioned. Thankfully, I can rewire.
This awareness of the present moment is what mindfulness is all about.
To that end, mindfulness is a way of being in the world. It’s not yet another way to improve yourself, not another item for your to-do list, and not just meditation.

No one is exempt from doing the work to develop a mindfulness muscle. It takes practice.

Learn to knit
Dr. Ellen Langer, the first woman to be granted tenure in the Harvard Psychology Department,
has been studying mindfulness since the 1970s.
One book called Counterclockwise highlights some of her research that shows
mindfulness can help us increase vitality and even reverse the aging process.
Langer suggests we take up a creative class that can bring out attention to detail as we learn a skill (like painting or knitting) which focuses our attention in a particular way and for a sustained period
of time where we base one step on the previous step, thereby adapting what comes in the present moment to what will happen next.
She says, “When people are mindful, they are open to generating new ways
of looking at the world and are not controlled by routines and habitual ways of observing . . .
the simple process of actively drawing distinctions.”

Building mindfulness
Our lives are written so by routine.
When was the last time you took a new route to work in the morning?
I encourage clients to take mindful walks. The next time you walk to the coffee shop,
put your cellphone away and focus on feeling the full strides of your feet on the ground.
Or, do the dishes mindfully. Instead of thinking about what you “should have done earlier”
or what you “need to do next,” just be with the dish for a minute and feel the full sensations
of warm water suds on your hands. These types of slight shifts in how you normally run on default mode will strengthen your mindfulness muscle.
Louis practicing meditation
It’s true – with extensive research to back it up – that meditation is a great practice
to build mindfulness for the same reasons it focuses our attention.
If you think you don’t know how to meditate, you can learn
and if you think you don’t have ten minutes a day to meditate, then you need twenty.
It’s a simple concept: we construct our reality (our experience of the world) in large part
by where we put our limited attention. (How many of you feel a little Attention-Deficit-Disordered (ADD) these days?) More often than we recognize, we can make choices consciously
and intentionally thereby getting more of what we want in life:
more health, more wealth, specifically:
Decreased anxiety and stress
Increased heart-rate variability
Increased immune response
Activated prefrontal cortex, which allows our best, most creative thinking
Or, how about peace? Teacher Thich Nhat Hanh says, “Through mindfulness, we can learn
to live in the present moment instead of in the past and in the future. Dwelling in the present moment is the only way to truly develop peace, both in one’s self and in the world.”
The world needs peace right now. The world needs you to increase your mindfulness.
So, thank you for practicing and building your mindfulness muscle.
(But don’t say “no problem” because that ain’t mindful, according to John Amodeo.)
When the alarm goes off tomorrow morning, take a slow and low cleansing breath
and remember to express gratitude for another day to be alive.

Energetic NLP:
How to Retrieve Your Energy from Other People
You are in danger if you don't know how to clear other people's energy
out of your body, and how to retrieve your energy
from the people you have interacted with.
In 8 minutes learn how to have more energy, health, clarity, and joy in being alive. More vitality. Make Better decisions.
M'reen:I practice this most mornings and forget to practice this most nights. :(
But remember that doing something always outclasses being a perfectionist.

Living From Inspiration and How To Deal With Being Incredible.

I chose this photo from my collection as these people chose to be incredible in their own ways. M'reen

How To Deal With Being Incredible

“The world is divided in two classes,
those who believe the incredible, and those who do the improbable.”
-Oscar Wilde

Being incredible.
It is something that most people want to experience and be.
Is being incredible in life hard?
Yes for some it is.
Why is it that most people can want to be incredible,
yet some live quiet lives of bitterness and  misery ?
What is the difference between being an incredible person
and not being an incredible person.
The truth is this.
Being incredible comes from within.
One of the reasons, I continue to live an incredible life on many levels.
It comes from being of service to humanity. This is the reason why my incredible life begins
and ends. It is something you can’t see you can only feel inside of you. It is your spirit.
This is a very simple thing you can do. And this is by taking a look at your life now.
Your Life Now
Take a look at your life now. Are you happy? Why are you happy or not happy ?
You can be happy for no reason at all.
If you want to be an incredible person you can be it by choosing it.
How Do You Deal With Being Incredible ?
Once you become incredible. Once you tune into your incredible life.
It will be rather challenging to deal with. You start to see everyone else leading the same misery
and negative life.  You are so happy because you tuned back within to your inner greatness.
This unlocked your door to your incredible life. Now, how do you deal with this?
You just keep being yourself. 100% and you follow your life’s purpose. Keep it simple.
There is no need to complicate the process of being 100% authentically you.
Step into this goodness in your life.  Continue to shine your light, despite what others think of you.
Be Yourself
Continue to pursue becoming financially rich. Continue to serve others.
Continue to be authentically you.
Continue to amass joy, happiness, and wisdom that comes from within.
Regardless of what anyone else is doing, or think of you.
Continue to be grateful for the miracle of your life and the good of who you are growing into.
Serve others, because an incredible life happens
when you realize success is what you do for others.
Tune into this alignment. Be incredible, and don’t judge others who aren’t incredible.
Don’t allow people who aren’t incredible to phase you for being incredible.
Just continue to be you. Do you. And be the very best you can be in full alignment.

Living From Inspiration

Are you choosing to live from inspiration?
It is estimated most people living today lead quiet lives of misery and pain.
Yet, in the midst of it all there is hope. That hope comes in the form of choosing to live
not from the old story of misery and pain, but the new story of inspiration.
Living from inspiration comes from within yourself.  It’s a choice you make.
Living an inspired life, is truly incredible.
From an inspired way of living, you have the ability to awaken your true gifts and talents
and share it with the world. Living an inspired life allows you to live out your big dreams
because inspiration is the fuel for  manifesting your big dreams in life.
Yet, there are times in life where you don’t feel inspired. Why is this?
It is because you have lost connection with your true nature.
One of the main reasons I continue to have much inspiration that flows from within me
is because I allow it to flow for me. From a true nature that is within me.
What this allows me to experience :
This allows me to experience and have a life  of worldly success, prosperity, heavenly blessings,
and an authentic lifestyle that feels great to me. It allows me to make a contribution to humanity
that gives me tingles each time I think of the magnitude of the positive difference
I can make as a result of choosing to come from an inspired place within me.
It’s liken to a celebration of life, truth, light, wisdom, and pure goodness in the world today
pouring outwards to the ions and universal God force.
This feels great to me and I exude it out in the form of value and inspiration on this blog.
It begins with choosing to be of greater service to humanity.
The truth is, it is what you are delivering to others lives that reminds you of your true nature.

Your True Nature
When you are connected to the deeper aspects of your true nature,
you will see it is much easier to be inspired.
When you are lacking this key component of living from the inside,
then you start to disconnect from this inner nature that lives and breathes from within.
Your true nature is your inner being. Not the false self.
The false self is the condition that society has placed upon you.
Your false self is what society wants you to be, your true nature is who you
are destined to be without society and ancestry  restrictions and limitations.
Your true nature from a higher perspective; is your natural state of awareness.
It is unlimited. It is alive. It is rich in your way of being.  It is the core of your truth that is all powerful, limitless, and unbounded by any form of restriction.
You are the true embodiment of all that is righteous and good in the world, shining bright.
This true nature of pure awareness is a truly remarkable energy space to connect back into,
so you can give service to others from a very powerful, authentic,
and inspirational  space that empowers others.

Give To Humanity
This is where you want to give back to humanity from. A space of inner power.
A space of authenticity. Living from a space of inspiration your world begins to open up
in ways you never imagined possible.
By giving service to humanity, opportunities and positive circumstances that were once non existent in the external world starts to flow to you.  You meet the right people at the right time.
Success starts to show up in your reality when you are living from an inspired way of life.
This is because success is what you do for others.
This is because what you see within yourself is what you attract in the outer world in a positive way. Moving from your true nature allows this inspiration to flow within you.
It’s truly an amazing process that feels great, and allows great life experiences to unfold for you.
Enchanting wonders in your external world begin to happen in your life when you are moving
from a place of inspiration.

Connect Back To Thyself
Take time each day to connect back to your source of inspiration from within.
You will find there is truth, authenticity, and deep wisdom that arises from this authentic space
from yourself.  Take time each day to feel the essence of the inspiration that comes from within.
This inspiration that you exude from within out to the world  increases your prosperity, success,
and good fortune. Choose to connect back to your true nature. Live an inspired life that matters
not only to yourself, but to the greater good that you service. It’s truly a remarkable way of being.
This can be done by taking stock of doing more of what makes you happy and makes you come alive.

7 Sure-Fire Ways To Defeat Rejection

I titled this photo of mine, 'walking on water' but this article is about 'water off a duck's back'. M'reen

7 Sure-Fire Ways To Defeat Rejection
Post written by Peter G. James Sinclair.

I have lost count as to the number of rejection slips I have received throughout the years.
But it hasn’t stopped me from publishing and creating magnificence in my life.
Nor should it stop you.
I have learnt the secret of how to never come under the subjection of rejection
– to treat it like ‘water off a ducks back’.
So allow me to instruct you on how you can sail across and thrive
amidst your own personal sea of rejection.

1. The Word NO Won’t Kill You
Go on. Stand in front of a mirror and yell at yourself the word NO. Go on. Say it ten times.
How do you feel after that barrage of abuse? Oh you’re still breathing. It didn’t kill you? Amazing.
So those bullets that you thought others were firing at you are actually only blanks after all.

2. Another Person’s Acceptance Is Not Your Success Prerequisite
So what if they don’t get it. And who are THEY anyway?
They are other people’s opinions, and people’s opinions change like the wind.

3. Dream BIG Dreams
Whatever you do, don’t stop dreaming. Dreams drive you to push forward with the next creation.
So dream on and dream BIG.

4. Create Great Creations
As a creative person, to stop creating is to put to death the growth
that is necessary for the creation of new and fresh ideas.
So never stop the creation process.

5. There Is Always Another Way
In order to get your material before a wider audience, the Internet has opened up the floodgates
for expression like never before. And much of it is freely available.
So publish your creations online – whether it is in written word, photographs,
videos or audio presentations. Get out there on the World Wide Web and make it happen.

6. NO Is Never The Final Answer
Someone’s no may lead to another’s yes.
So keep moving. Keep creating. Keep presenting.
Keep improving. Keep submitting. Keep trying. Keep going.
Never stop. Never give up.
You are worthy. Your creations are special.
You are of value, and you have a voice that needs to be heard.

7. Believe In Yourself
Be your greatest fan. Declare to yourself on a daily basis that God created you for greatness,
and stand firm in that greatness – ever giving thanks for the gifts
that have been planted in your life to bring joy to all.
